Superstition Dance Drop-in Classes

Superstition Dance will host drop-in dance classes twice a month on Monday evenings. Each class will cost only $10 at the door to attend and is open to anyone who wants to come dance with us! We look forward to being able to host a space for performers from every walk of life to come dance and learn in a fun and relaxed environment. More information about the drop-in class will be made available prior to the start of the season.

Superstition Movement Collective

​Superstition Movement Collective aims to provide Dance education and performance opportunities that are inclusive to all movers, and is for all bodies. SMC will cater an environment for the “Colorguard/Winterguard Dancer” that can support and grow their movement practice in a familiar and exciting way.

Superstition Movement Collective is the newest performance based ensemble to be added to our organization. Utilizing the mission above, SMC will curate unique performances to bridge the gap between the colorguard and dance communities. Members of SMC will be contracted through our drop-in classes. The Collective will meet 1-2 times per month on the weekends to craft and film our pieces and will host a showcase event at the end of the season. Gabriel Martin Gastelo ​Jr. Director

​Gabriel comes to Superstition Movement Collective with 15 years of movement, and performance experience. Gabriel’s interest in dance, and movement forms peaked after performing as a trumpet player with The Arizona Academy Drum and Bugle Corps in 2004. This venture led him into a different aspect of performing arts, the world of performance competitive winterguard. Gabriel Performed and competed as a member of The Arizona Academy Winterguard, and Fenix Independent Winterguard. After years of movement experience in the Colorguard/Winterguard arena, Gabriel pursued movement at the collegiate level at Arizona State University. In his time at ASU Gabriel was able to study a Post-Modern Contemporary style of movement, perform and choreograph student dance works, Intern with American Dance Festival, and perform with Dulce Dance Co, and Desert Dance Theater. Gabriel  will graduate with a B.F.A in Dance from The Herberger School of Dance, Theater, and Film in December 2021.
